Fail.

The Bear has had a serious attitude issue the last few weeks. Granted, he's been feeling sick. However, he's approaching full out brat stage.

Hubby, The Bear and I went out to dinner last Thursday night. Hubby made it clear that The Bear is out of control. He refuses to sit in his high chair for the hour it takes to order and eat. No amount of snacks, toys or silly songs appeases him.

At church on Sunday, I had to take him to the nursery. He's always stayed with us during the service. I typically pay more attention to him than the sermon, but I want him to know what's expected of him. He always used to be just fine with his toys and such. I let him move about a little bit in the pew and there's lots of sitting and standing which keeps him entertained.

I don't know what happened to my sweet baby boy. He's only 16 months old, and I'm terrified to think it will only get worse as he approaches 2.

I feel like I'm failing as a mom. I don't know what to do.

Awww I have no advice but it sounds like he is testing his boundaries! Good luck, you are NOT a horrible mom!

You are NOT failing as a parent! Bear's behavior is perfectly normal for his age. Things will get better. In the meantime, try not to go out to eat when you know he's tired or sick--get takeout instead. :) And don't feel bad about taking him to the church nursery--that's what it's there for!

Hi! I just saw your blog on a friend of mines and thought I would say hello! I have a 13 month old and she has already hit the full blown brat stage :) She misbehaves in restraunt's, throws full blown temper tantrums (kicking the floor and everything) and just loves to push the boundaries! I also thought I was failing as a mom (especially as a sahm!) I watched an episode of oprah last week that was EXACTLY what I needed! You should check it out here. I know it definitely made me feel better :) Good luck!

My son went through the same stage before he hit two and then once he hit two it went away. You are not doing anything wrong hun. These are their stages, it will pass.

That is a tough stage but... when they are 9 and 6 years old like mine you'll actually miss those crazy cute toddler years:) I'm from the FMC!

a. you are not failing as a mom (or if you are then I am too!)

b. this is a phase. It may seem like it last forever (and I've heard rumors it can last till the mid twenties) but it will end at some point.

c. tough love. Its tough but stand your ground with him. It can be so tough especially when your pulling single parent duty and your just worn out but allow him his freedom where you can and set limits where they are needed.

THIS WILL PASS!!!
